Jee Mains Helding Again??

VADODARA: Scores of parents, whose wards appeared for Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) main on Sunday, have approached the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) demanding that the exam should be conducted again. The common entrance test - JEE main - for admission to engineering colleges across the country was held at nine centres in Gujarat.

According to parents, at centres like Vallabh Vidyanagar and Anand, their wards lost precious 20 minutes because of mismanagement. The exam wasn't conducted as per guidelines of CBSE, they say alleging that there was rampant copying and disturbance during the exam.

"As per the guidelines for examination centres and observers, the candidates should have been allowed entry into the exam hall at 9 am and all administrative work should have been over before the commencement of the exam at 9.30 am. Instead candidates were allowed inside the hall only at 9.20 am and by the time the administrative procedure was completed it was 9.50 am. In the process, 20 minutes were lost," a parent M V Suresh, who has registered a complaint with CBSE along with the ministry of human resource development, told TOI on Monday.

According to Suresh, whose son had appeared at a centre in Anand, despite CBSE's clear guidelines, no extra time was granted to candidates even as their time was lost due to administrative work.

"There are 180 minutes for 90 questions. Every two minutes a candidate should be able to solve at least one question to keep up the pace. But the exam wasn't conducted as per the CBSE guidelines and all the formalities that were meant to be conducted before the beginning of the exam were done during the exam which took away my precious time," a student Nihar Gargava said.
